Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

Atherosclerosis is a disease in which plaque builds up inside arteries. Arteries are blood vessels that carry oxygen-rich blood to heart and other parts of body. Plaque is made up of fat, cholesterol, calcium, and other substances found in the blood.

It is hardening and narrowing of the arteries which get a lot of bad press but with good reason. This progressive process silently and slowly blocks arteries, putting blood flow at risk.
